Holidays in Europe

This past fall, we had the opportunity to take a trip to Europe with my wife’s family. It’s always a blessing being able to travel overseas, and this time was no different. We visited Prague, Vienna, and Budapest just in time for the start of the Christmas markets. Most of our time was spent visiting various castles, eating a ton of food, drinking coffee and apple cider, and shopping at the Christmas markets.

My goal for this trip was to get up a few hours early and walk around the city to take photos. This is my favorite way to get to know a place, and I also wanted to practice my street photography, which has gotten rusty since working in San Francisco. It was definitely quite an experience layering up each morning and exploring in the cold (and sometimes in the snow); I also got pretty good at navigating Google Maps on my phone using my nose!

For any photographers who are interested: The film photos in the blog were shot on an Olympus OM2 35mm camera with Portra 160, Portra 400, and the new Ektachrome 100. I also used a Sony A7III with the 28mm f2 lens, and there’s a few iPhone shots slipped in as well.
